Staying on top of the applicants who have applied for your maritime jobs is crucial if you’re a shipowner or manager looking to fill open crewing positions. Luckily Martide’s maritime recruitment platform has made that easier than ever before. Here’s how to track your candidates and make sure you don’t miss out on talented seafarers who’ve applied for your jobs at sea.
A shipowner's guide to tracking candidates
There are two ways of checking to see if you have any new candidates. The quick and easy way is to go to your Dashboard Page. This is the first page you see when you log in to your martide.com account.
If you’re on another page you can get back here by clicking Dashboard in the header bar at the top of the page. The Dashboard looks like this:
Here you can see at a glance how many new candidates have applied for your jobs at sea and have been hired over the last 7, 14 and 30 days.
If you’ve had a new candidate apply within the last 24 hours you’ll see a notification - like in our example above in the red box. This is a handy way of checking your numbers and seeing if you have any actions to take.
However, if you’d like to dive a little deeper and get more information about your applicants, click Recruitment in the header bar. You’ll see a page that looks like this:
This is where you can see all of your open and closed maritime jobs listed by vessel, including the rank, how many candidates have applied and how many have been hired, and the change-over date.
To make life easier, there are filters for candidate age and budget on the left hand side so that you can narrow down your search. You can also show, edit or close a position by selecting the relevant button next to each vacancy.
Review your candidates
If you click Show you’ll be able to review all candidates for that position onboard that vessel. The page looks like this:
If you click on a candidate’s name you’ll see information including the stages of negotiation, any messages and the status of their application. See below for a more detailed breakdown of this screen. The page will look something like this - use your arrow keys to scroll left and right on the screen:
Here’s what all of that information means:
- 1st column: these are the steps to be taken for this candidate’s application. They may include document validation and interview but they will depend on the maritime recruitment pipeline for that position.
- 2nd column: the seafarer’s name
- 3rd column: the stages of negotiation including salary, contract length and variance.
- 4th column: message thread.
- 5th column: status of the application and the seafarer's details.
By breaking each application down into these handy at-a-glance sections you’ll be able to see exactly where you are at any given moment with an applicant and your vacant jobs at sea. You can take action if needed such as chasing up documents or issuing a contract.
It’s the no-nonsense way to ensuring your open maritime jobs are filled quickly and easily!
