With that in mind, we’ve written this blog post as a how to guide to give you the lowdown on everything you need to know about submitting a candidate for a job through the Martide platform.

A manning agent's guide to submitting candidates for jobs in Martide
When a shipowner or manager (the employer) chooses your manning agency's services to help them fulfil a vacancy, our system will give you the opportunity to first review the position before you start checking out the seafarer profiles of potential candidates.
This is how to review a position.
All of the positions you have been selected to help find seafarers can be found under the Find Job page.
This is actually the first page you see when you log in to your Martide account but if you need to access it from a different page you can go back to it by clicking on Find Job in the side menu:
In our example below you can see our (fictional) manning agent has been chosen by an employer to find a candidate for an Able Seaman position (on the left hand side of the page) and they have a list of potential seafarers to review on the right hand side.
As a crew manning agency you'll probably first want to review the details of the position. To do that simply click on the job. You will then see detailed information about the job and the vessel (on the left) as well as the proposed candidates again (on the right.) That page looks like this:
You will also be able to see if that candidate has already applied for the job (status), whether they have applied and been rejected or hired, or if they’re not qualified to apply.
You can see in our example that Ben Benson and David Davidson are showing as not qualified.
To find out why a candidate is showing as not qualified click on the words Not Qualified. You will see a pop-up box that tells you what's missing from the seafarer's application or profile.
This enables you to review the candidate's profile and double check whether or not they have the missing documents, information or qualifications.
We clicked on Ben Benson to see what the problem was and the pop-up box told us that he is missing his GMDSS Endorsement and his Advanced Fire Fighting certificate:
We checked and luckily Ben has both of those things - they just weren't in the system. We updated his profile and application by clicking the pen icons in the GMDSS Endorsement box and Advanced Fire Fighting box and adding the relevant info and uploading copies of his documents.
If a candidate is qualified to apply, a check box will show next to their name. In our example if we look at the page again we will see that Ben is now qualified to apply, along with Andy, Carl, Charley and Eva.
Now we want to submit some candidates for the Able Seaman job. To do that, check the box next to the candidates you wish to apply and scroll down the page and click the Submit Seafarer button.
Anyone you liked the look of and who had the required documents will be automatically put forward for the vacancy.
How to add candidates to the system
As one of your client's chosen crew manning agencies, you also have the ability to add candidates to the system. This is simple to do: first click Candidates in the side menu bar (just under Find Job.) You will be taken to the Candidates page. It looks like this:
To add a candidate, click the Add Candidate button at the top.
Adding a candidate is really easy: once you’ve clicked the Add Candidate button, you'll see a pop-up box. All you need do is enter the seafarer's email address, first name and last name.
Once you’ve done that and clicked the Create button at the foot of the page, you will then be able to see the seafarer in the list of candidates on the right hand side of the Find Job page.
Plus to save you valuable time you can also bulk import candidates using an Excel spreadsheet. Hey presto: easier candidate tracking and maritime recruitment for manning agents with just a few clicks of the mouse!
