MOL Announces New Series Name, Color Design

A new series name as well as a new hull color for Mitsui O.S.K. Lines' car carriers have been announced.

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) announced the decision on a new series name and a new hull color design for its liquefied natural gas (LNG)-fuelled car carriers.

The company decided on a new name called the “BLUE” series. According to MOL, the name symbolizes the MOL Group Corporate Mission which is “from the blue oceans, we sustain people's lives and ensure a prosperous future.”

Furthermore, it also conveys the organization’s hope for the vessels to “pass on to the future the beauty of the various blues of the earth, sky, sea, and trees."

MOL further explained that the new hull color design “boldly” expresses the company’s unified global brand evolution with its car carrier services, MOL ACE.

It pointed out that the change can be seen in the design for the letter “A” in MOL ACE.

The organization expounded the new design.

“The bow is turquoise blue, creating a fusion of green, which has a strong environmental image, and blue, which is MOL's brand color, and expresses the MOL Group's ongoing commitment to address environmental issues.”

Moreover, it added that the blue color from the stern to the bow is still similar to the previous “FLEXIE” series that represents the “inheritance of good old traditions.”

MOL mentioned that it has ordered a total of 7,000-unit capacity LNG fuelled car carriers to be delivered in succession between 2024 and 2025. Additionally, it will adopt the new series name and hull color scheme.

Meanwhile, the company emphasized that it will keep on moving forward to provide “new value in the form of zero-emission transport of finished vehicles” following the update on its new car carrier design based on “safety” and “reliability.”
