Introducing Martide's Transfer Assignments Feature

person drawing arrows

If you’re a shipowner, crew planner or recruitment officer who uses Martide’s maritime recruitment crewing system platform to run your operations, you will have come across the Assignments page during the course of your day.

The Assignments page is where you can see all of your current and closed vacancies (Assignments) and create new ones.

Please note that there are two pages which work in a similar way in Martide, Assignments and Recruitment. The difference between them is:

  • Assignments: This is where you hire a specific seafarer for a specific vessel on a specific contract.
  • Recruitment: This is where you add seafarers to the database so that you can potentially hire them in the future.

Click here to view the Recruitment Support page for more information.

Recently we added a new feature within Assignments to make life even easier for you as someone who works in recruitment or crew planning.

It’s called Assignment Transfers and it lets you transfer certain Pipeline Stages from one Assignment to another.

Here we’ll take a closer look at how to use this new feature so that you can continue to get the most use out of Martide.

Introducing the Transfer Assignments feature in Martide

As mentioned, you can use this feature to transfer some Stages in a Pipeline from one Assignment to another.

Where this comes in useful is if one of your seafarer candidates needs to change to a different vessel when they are already in or halfway through the Pipeline for another ship.

Using the transfer feature means you don't have to repeat all the Stages again for the new Assignment.

How to transfer a candidate to another assignment

Here’s how to make that happen.

To transfer one or more Pipeline Stages, go to Planning which can be found in the column on the left hand side of the main menu. See the image below:

When you click on Planning it will take you to this page:

To find the vessel that you want to transfer the Pipeline Stages from, use the filters.

For example we want to transfer a seafarer candidate named Mykola who has applied for a job on our fictional vessel named Aqua. We've searched for Aqua and found the planning schedule - see below:

Screenshot of Martide's maritime recruitment and crewing system platform

In the image above you can see the name of the vessel in the blue bar at the top, the ranks on the vessel below that, and then who is hired or working in that position and for which dates. i.e. the green bar shows Chief Engineer Schuppe is onboard from December 2021 to the end of August 2022.

Meanwhile, CE Ankunding in the purple bar is lined up to take over at crew change in mid October. (Let's hope that CE Schuppe has a couple of months of contract variance so Aqua isn't left without a Chief Eng for a month and a half!)

You can also see that there are 3 candidates for Able Seaman on Aqua. Our seafarer Mykola is one of them. Double click on the blue candidate box (highlighted in red above) and you will see this:

In this pop-up box you can:

  • See what Stages the Candidates are at.
  • Add more candidates.
  • Update the dates of the Assignment.
  • Click the little circle next to the candidate to transfer them, then click the Transfer box at the bottom of the page.

Because we are transferring Stages from Mykola’s Pipeline, we clicked the circle next to his name. That then shows us this pop-up box:

Here you can:

  • See the current Assignments for a particular rank on a particular vessel, as well as the change over date.
  • Search for a specific rank or vessel in the two search boxes at the top.
  • Choose one or more ranks to transfer the candidate to.
  • Choose one or more vessels to transfer the candidate to.
  • Click the circle next to an Assignment to transfer the candidate.

We are going to transfer Mykola to a different vessel/Assignment. When you transfer a candidate you will then see this:

Any Stages that have already been approved and can be automatically transferred will have a green check mark next to them, so in our example this is the Negotiation Stage.

We’ve kept our example simple, but in reality you will likely have more green check marks and approved Stages.

Now to transfer your seafarer candidate from one vessel’s Assignment to another click on the Transfer button at the bottom of the pop-up box:

You will be returned to the main Planning page where you will see a notification telling you the Assignment has been transferred:

And that’s it!

We hope you find the transfer Assignment feature useful.
