If you’re a seafarer looking for jobs at sea in the maritime industry and you have already applied for one or more seafarer job vacancies through Martide, you’re going to want to know how you can keep track of your applications.
Luckily we've made that really easy for you to do and that’s where the My Jobs feature for seafarers comes in.
At Martide we’re always working hard to make sure our website and mobile app are delivering the functions you need to make it easier for you to find and apply for everything from entry level cargo ship jobs to Master and Marine Chief Engineer jobs.
And that’s why we’ve created the My Jobs function - so you know exactly what’s going on with both your open and closed maritime job vacancies. And for this blog post we thought it might be a good idea to provide you with a handy how to guide so you know exactly how to use the feature and stay one step ahead when it comes to applying for hot vacancies for seamen.
How to track the jobs at sea you applied for through Martide
First of all, log in to your Martide account. The first page you see will be your User Profile. It looks something like this and you'll need to click My Jobs at the top of the page.
When you've clicked My Jobs it will take you to a page that looks something like the image below. As you can see from our example, our seafarer has three active applications and two historical ones.
On this page you can do a number of things:
- You can see all your current job applications (Active.) In our example the seafarer has three open applications including for a Master's job and an Able Seaman job. (This seafarer is a real all rounder!)
- You can also see your past applications for seafarer jobs (History) that are now no longer available. You may have been hired for these, or you may not have been successful. In our example the seafarer has two past applications for an Able Seaman job and a Bosun job and they withdrew their application - as you can see from the status in red under the rank.
- You can also check what stage you are at with your current applications by clicking on the job.
Checking the status of your active applications
It’s really easy to check where you are at any point in your applications for jobs at sea. This saves you the time and hassle of having to contact the employer or manning agent - you can simply check yourself. Easy!
All you do is click on the job position on any of your open vacancies and you’ll be taken to the job page and be able to see the stages of your application.
The stages will look something like this:
On the page above you can:
- See information about the company, vessel, contract length and visa (this appears above the stages.)
- Check the stages of the recruitment process.
- You can view stages which have a black arrow next to them. Click the arrow to open them. For example:
In our example above you can see our seafarer has passed their medical examination and is vaccinated against Yellow Fever. However, they have not been hired yet as the contract has not been signed.
That means they can delete their application if they want to by clicking the blue Withdraw button. For example, you might want to withdraw it if you've applied for more than one seafarer job and you've have been successfully hired for another one.
Checking the status of historic applications
Let's say you want to check and see the older jobs at sea you previously applied for through Martide. The good news is, you can also do this quickly and easily.
For historic applications there are three possible outcomes: you will have either been hired for the job, not accepted for the job, or you withdrew the application yourself.
The status of the application appears under the rank. If you were hired, you will also see the salary amount. For example:
Furthermore if you click on the rank/position of successful hires you will see that the contract was signed - unlike our earlier example above:
Where to get more support
The My Jobs feature helps you stay one step ahead so you can plan better and also proactively follow up on any applications with a prospective employer, maritime recruitment agency or your manning agent.
And that’s really all you need to know about checking where you are at any given time once you’ve applied for one of Martide’s hot vacancies for seamen.
