When you first log in to your Martide account you will notice that there are two options in the header bar at the top: Candidates and Seafarers. So what’s the difference between them?
- Candidates are people whose profiles were created by your company or by an employer.
- Seafarers are candidates who you have approved for a position. You can approve seafarers and you can apply them to positions. You can also create new seafarer profiles.
Understanding your Candidates page
Log in to your Martide account and click on Candidates in the header bar. You will be taken to a page that looks like this:
Here you can:
- Import Candidates from an Excel file by clicking the button on the top right.
- Create Candidates to enter new applicants into your database.
- Search for candidates using the search bar at the top of the page.
- Filter candidates by the preferences in the panel on the left hand side of the page.
How to check a candidate
Click on a seafarer’s profile to learn more about them. That page looks like this:
On this page you can see:
- Their name, rank, gender, relationship status, date and place of birth, and nearest airport, their Candidate Pool, if they’re in one, and whether or not they are ex-crew. To edit, click the blue pen icon in the corner.
- Their active and historic applications.
- Their work experience including the type of vessel they worked on.
- Their contact info, language skills, education, other skills, social media accounts, physical specs and bank details.
- Their preferences for the type of vessel and contract they're looking for.
- Who created the candidate in the system and who the manning agency is.
- Their documents and visas.
How to approve a candidate for a position
To approve a candidate for a vacant position, return to the main Candidates Page. Check the box next to their name and click the Approve button:
You will see a pop-up box that looks like this:
If you are sure you want to approve the candidate and move them to the Seafarers page / database, click the Move to Seafarer button.
You will be redirected to the Seafarers page where your candidate will now appear at the top of the page. They will no longer show on the Candidates page.
How to create a new candidate
On the main Candidate page click the blue Create Candidate button at the top of the page. You will then see a page that looks like this:
Here you can:
- Enter the seafarer's email address and name.
- Click Create and you'll be taken to their new profile page. It looks like this:
Here you can:
- Enter their personal information by clicking the blue pen in the corner of the box with their name.
- Add their Work Experience.
- Update details for their contacts, education, preferences, physical specs, skills, languages, social media accounts and bank account(s).
- Upload their documents and visas.
The candidate will now appear on the main page.
How to import candidates
On the main Candidate page click the blue Import Candidate button at the top of the page. You will then see this pop-up box:
Here you can:
- Bulk import as many candidates you want by clicking Choose File, uploading a spreadsheet from your computer then clicking Start Import.
- Download an Example File by clicking the Download Example File button in the top right corner. This will open up an Excel spreadsheet that you can use as a template to make sure you enter your information correctly so that the system uploads it without any issues:
