The Lydia Mar Shipping Company SA was established in 1981 in Piraeus as a ship management entity by Aug. Bolten Wm. Miller’s Nachfolger of Hamburg/Germany, a seventh-generation family-owned shipping company with a history of well over 200 years. The location was chosen because of its shipping-friendly environment and the importance of Greece as an international shipping hub.
Lydia Mar started up with crew management for mainly German clients but swiftly broadened its customer base beyond Germany with an emphasis on bulk carriers, container ships as well as multi-purpose- and heavy lift vessels.
In 1988 Lydia Mar successfully ventured into performing the technical- and full management of ships. Lydia Mar (Manila) Inc. was opened in 1990 for crew recruitment and training purposes to meet the increasing demands of its customers. In 1991 Lydia Mar successfully started performing commercial management as well as chartering & voyage operation of handysize bulk carriers.
Today a team of accomplished professionals attends to the full- or part management of some 30 ships by providing custom-made solutions to the specific needs of its customers. Moreover Lydia Mar is firmly established in the market as a chartering broker and time charter operator.
