Martide’s partners are seeking dedicated and technically skilled Electro-Technical Ratings to join their engineering teams aboard their vessels. As an Electrical Technical Rating, you will be responsible for helping to maintain the ship’s electrical, electronic, and control systems. This critical role ensures the seamless operation of essential shipboard equipment, including power distribution, communication, navigation, and control systems.

Key responsibilities generally include:

• Help the ETO and other members of the department to monitor, maintain, and repair electrical power systems, generators, and switchboards to ensure continuous power supply.
• Help the ETO and other members of the department to maintain, calibrate, and repair electronic navigation and communication systems, such as GPS, radar, VHF, and AIS.
• Help to troubleshoot and resolve faults in control systems, automation, and shipboard electronics.
• Support the ETO and Chief Engineer in ensuring compliance with international maritime regulations, such as ISM and SOLAS, related to electrical and electronic systems.
• Help to conduct regular inspections of electrical and automation equipment, identifying issues before they lead to system failure
• Respond to emergency breakdowns and provide immediate repairs to restore system functionality.
• Collaborate with engineers and technical crew during cargo handling, mooring, and vessel navigation to support the operational needs of the ship.
• Assist in training and mentoring junior technical crew, such as Electrical Cadets, in the use and maintenance of shipboard electronic systems.
