0 Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) Seafarer Jobs

Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO) vessels are offshore facilities used in the production, processing, storage, and offloading of hydrocarbons from subsea oil and gas fields. These highly specialized vessels combine elements of a tanker, oil platform, and refinery. They require a multidisciplinary crew of marine professionals, process operators, technicians, and engineers to ensure safe and continuous operations in challenging offshore environments. All personnel must comply with international offshore standards (e.g. SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM, ISPS, and industry-specific safety frameworks like OGP or IMCA).

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Marine Department

Master (Marine Superintendent / OIM if dual role)

• Hold full command of the FPSO and overall responsibility for marine operations and vessel safety.
• Ensure compliance with flag state, classification society, ISM, and ISPS Code.
• Oversee marine crew, offloading operations, station keeping (turret or spread moored), and emergency response.
• Coordinate with field operators, shuttle tankers, and shore management.

Chief Officer

• Manage ballast systems, cargo tanks, stability control, and marine safety systems.
• Oversee mooring operations, offloading hose handling, and deck maintenance.
• Ensure readiness of LSA/FFA equipment and act as Safety Officer.
• Assist with permit-to-work systems and lead safety drills.

Second Officer / Watchkeeping Officer

• Conduct navigational and DP watch (if applicable), monitor weather and station keeping.
• Maintain charts, navigational aids, and GMDSS equipment.
• Assist with security, access control, and emergency muster duties.

Bosun / Deck Crew (ABs, OSs)

• Carry out deck maintenance, mooring inspections, hose handling, and support marine operations.
• Participate in fire, rescue, and environmental response drills.
• Maintain helideck (if present), cranes, rescue boats, and workboats.

Engineering Department

Chief Engineer

• Manage all technical systems including propulsion (if any), power generation, utilities, and machinery.
• Oversee engine crew and ensure continuous operation of HVAC, water treatment, bilge, and fire-fighting systems.
• Maintain engine logs, planned maintenance system (PMS), and regulatory compliance.

Second Engineer

• Supervise daily engine room operations, including generators, pumps, compressors, and fuel systems.
• Coordinate maintenance of essential machinery and assist in emergency preparedness.
• Support spare parts tracking and engine performance reporting.

Third Engineer / Fourth Engineer

• Conduct routine equipment monitoring, lubrication, fuel transfers, and assist in repairs.
• Perform watchkeeping duties and monitor machinery space safety systems.
• Assist in bunker operations and pollution prevention.

Oilers / Wipers

• Support machinery operation, cleaning, and minor repairs under supervision.
• Conduct engine room rounds and assist in system checks and fluid transfers.

Electrical and Instrumentation

Electro-Technical Officer (ETO) / Electrician

• Maintain and troubleshoot electrical systems including power distribution, MCCs, UPS, lighting, and motors.
• Support automation, fire/gas detection, and alarm systems.
• Maintain emergency generators and switchboard safety systems.

Instrumentation Technicians

• Calibrate and maintain field instruments, pressure/temperature transmitters, level gauges, and process control loops.
• Assist in maintaining PLCs, DCS, and ESD (Emergency Shutdown) systems.
• Troubleshoot control system faults affecting topside and utility processes.

Production Department

Production Supervisor / Superintendent

• Oversee topside production processes including separation, dehydration, gas compression, and metering.
• Supervise Production Operators and coordinate with Marine and Engineering teams.
• Ensure compliance with operating procedures, safety systems, and permit-to-work protocols.
• Report production data and participate in field optimization activities.

Control Room Operator (CRO)

• Monitor DCS and safety systems; control production plant parameters from the control room.
• Respond to alarms, coordinate isolations, and manage emergency shutdown sequences.
• Maintain operational logs and shift handover notes.

Production / Process Operators

• Conduct rounds on production equipment including separators, heat exchangers, pumps, and flare systems.
• Collect samples and monitor process variables.
• Perform first-line maintenance, filter changes, and pigging activities (if applicable).

Maintenance & Support Roles

Mechanical Technicians

• Maintain rotating equipment (e.g. pumps, compressors, turbines) and static equipment (e.g. valves, exchangers).
• Carry out breakdown and preventive maintenance.
• Align, test, and rebuild critical components as required.

HVAC Technician

• Maintain HVAC systems for accommodation and control rooms.
• Monitor environmental control systems, filters, chillers, and refrigerant levels.

Welders / Fabricators (if carried)

• Perform hot work repairs under permit-to-work and isolation procedures.
• Conduct pipe fitting, structural reinforcement, and pressure system repairs.

HSE & Support Services

Safety Officer / HSE Advisor

• Promote and enforce compliance with safety management systems and offshore safety standards.
• Conduct risk assessments, toolbox talks, and incident investigations.
• Maintain records of drills, safety meetings, and audit findings.

Medic

• Provide primary medical care and emergency treatment for crew.
• Maintain medical inventory, health records, and coordinate medical evacuation if required.

Catering Crew (Campboss, Cook, Steward, Cleaners)

• Prepare meals and maintain high standards of hygiene in the galley and mess areas.
• Ensure accommodation, laundry, and common areas are kept clean and organized.
• Comply with food safety regulations and health checks.

Common Responsibilities for All Crew

• Participate in emergency response drills (fire, abandon ship, oil spill, H2S, etc.).
• Adhere to PPE, permit-to-work, and isolation requirements.
• Report unsafe conditions and follow company safety, health, and environmental procedures.
• Maintain logs, checklists, and compliance documentation relevant to your role.
