Martide’s partners are looking for responsible and detail-oriented Fourth Officers to join their deck teams aboard a variety of cargo ships and tankers. This role is crucial for ensuring the vessel's safe navigation, cargo operations, and compliance with maritime regulations. As a junior deck officer, the Fourth Officer supports senior officers in managing shipboard operations, monitoring safety systems, and maintaining accurate documentation.

Key responsibilities generally include:

• Bridge Watchkeeping: Serve as an Officer of the Watch (OOW) during assigned shifts, ensuring the safe navigation and maneuvering of the vessel in accordance with maritime regulations.
• Navigation Support: Assist in voyage planning, updating charts, and maintaining navigational aids, ensuring they remain current and accurate.
• Safety & Security Checks: Carry out routine checks on safety, firefighting, and life-saving equipment, ensuring all gear is operational and compliant with safety standards.
• Cargo Operations: Support loading, securing, and discharging of cargo, ensuring compliance with cargo handling procedures and maintaining proper documentation.
• Emergency Response: Participate in emergency drills and respond to real-time emergencies, including fire, collision, or man-overboard situations, as directed by senior officers.
• Compliance & Documentation: Maintain logs, reports, and checklists for navigation, cargo handling, and safety inspections, ensuring they meet legal and regulatory standards.
• Health, Safety & Environment (HSE): Support shipboard compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards, including pollution prevention measures.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with senior officers, engineers, and deck crew to ensure smooth daily operations and effective communication.
