Martide’s partners are seeking skilled and dedicated Main Crane Operators to join their crew aboard various vessels. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the safe and efficient operation of the vessel, contributing to cargo handling, and general shipboard duties. This position requires teamwork, adaptability, and adherence to maritime safety standards.

Key responsibilities generally include:

• Operate the ship’s primary heavy-lift cranes during cargo operations, ensuring safe and efficient handling of containers, bulk, or project cargo.
• Plan and execute complex lifting operations in coordination with the Chief Officer and stevedoring teams.
• Perform thorough pre-operation checks and monitor crane performance throughout operations to detect faults or irregularities.
• Supervise auxiliary crane operators and deck crew during critical lifting tasks to ensure adherence to safety protocols and load plans.
• Adjust crane controls with precision to manage oversized or fragile cargo, minimizing risk of damage or injury.
• Interpret lifting plans, cargo manifests, and rigging diagrams to ensure accurate load management.
• Carry out preventative maintenance, including lubrication, calibration, and wear checks on crane systems and hydraulics.
• Document crane usage, maintenance, and any incidents in compliance with company procedures and international maritime regulations.
• Respond promptly and effectively to crane-related mechanical issues, coordinating with the Engineering Department for repairs.
• Participate actively in safety briefings, drills, and training sessions to uphold onboard safety standards.
