Martide and our partners are seeking experienced and technically skilled Reefer Electricians to join their engineering teams aboard various cargo ships. This role is essential to ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of the ship's refrigerated containers and cooling systems. The Reefer Electrician is responsible for the electrical performance of refrigeration units used for cargo preservation.

Key responsibilities generally include:

• Maintain, monitor, and repair refrigerated containers (reefers) to ensure correct temperature control and safe cargo transport.
• Perform regular inspections and diagnostics on reefer units to detect faults, malfunctions, or irregularities.
• Carry out preventive maintenance on refrigeration systems, electrical circuits, and control equipment.
• Monitor reefer temperature logs and alarms to ensure cargo conditions meet voyage requirements.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronic systems associated with refrigerated containers.
• Coordinate with cargo officers and deck crew during loading/unloading to connect, disconnect, and check reefer plugs.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards, including safe handling of refrigerants.
• Maintain records of reefer performance, maintenance, and repairs for reporting to senior officers and shore staff.
• Assist the ship’s Electrical Engineer/ETO with other electrical maintenance tasks when required.
• Respond promptly to reefer breakdowns or emergencies to minimize cargo losses or delays.
