Martide and our partners are seeking experienced and technically skilled Reefermen to join their engineering teams aboard various cargo ships. This role is essential to ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of the ship's refrigerated containers and cooling systems. The Reeferman is responsible for the performance of refrigeration units used for cargo preservation.

Key responsibilities generally include:

• Monitor, operate, and maintain refrigerated (reefer) containers and cooling systems to ensure cargo temperature integrity.
• Conduct regular inspections of reefer units, checking for correct temperature settings, airflow, defrost cycles, and proper functioning.
• Record temperature readings, report deviations or alarms, and take immediate corrective action as required.
• Assist in the connection and disconnection of power to reefer containers during loading and discharging operations.
• Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs on reefer machinery and associated electrical systems.
• Troubleshoot refrigeration faults and escalate complex technical issues to the Chief Engineer or Electrical Officer.
• Ensure accurate documentation of reefer monitoring logs in compliance with company standards and port/state requirements.
• Liaise with shore-based technicians or service providers during port calls for reefer servicing or inspection.
• Support cargo planning and operations by providing reefer status reports and availability updates.
• Comply with all safety procedures, environmental regulations (e.g., refrigerant handling), and PPE requirements during operations.
