General Description

The Store Keeper is responsible for the efficient management, control, and distribution of all consumables, spare parts, tools, and equipment onboard the vessel. The role ensures that all departments—deck, engine, and galley—have timely access to the materials they need while maintaining accurate records and inventory levels. The Store Keeper plays a crucial role in logistical support, cost control, and compliance with company and maritime standards for storage and procurement.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate records of all incoming and outgoing stores, spare parts, and tools using the vessel's inventory management system.
• Ensure proper storage conditions for various materials, including segregation of hazardous substances and temperature-sensitive items.
• Conduct regular stock checks and report discrepancies or shortages to the Chief Engineer or Chief Officer.
• Monitor inventory levels and prepare requisitions in a timely manner to avoid stockouts.
• Receive and inspect delivered goods for quantity, quality, and condition; report any discrepancies or damage.
• Ensure all items are properly labeled, shelved, and easily accessible for audit or inspection purposes.
• Assist in coordinating the unloading and distribution of supplies during port calls or bunker operations.
• Track usage rates and assist with budgeting and forecasting of consumables and critical spares.
• Comply with safety, environmental, and sanitation regulations in all storage areas.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in storerooms and supply lockers.
• Support other departments with locating or issuing parts as needed, ensuring minimal disruption to vessel operations.
