In Martide you can set a status for each seafarer so you and any of your users know what their current position is in relation to your company.
The statuses are: Active, Medical, Unavailable, Left, Retired, and NFR (Not For Rehire.) You can also add a reason why you have set a seafarer to NFR. Here’s how.
How to find the NFR Reason page
First of all, log in to your Martide account. Click on your profile picture in the top right hand corner and then on Settings in the drop down menu:

That will take you to this page. At first your page will look like this:

Now we’re going to add some Not For Rehire Reasons.
How to add a new NFR Reason
Click on the + Add NFR Reason button at the top of the page. You will see a pop-up box that looks like this:
Type the reason why you don’t want to rehire a seafarer in the Enter reason box. For example:
Click Save when you’re done. The reason will now appear on the main page:

You can add as many reasons as you like.
For example, perhaps you have had seafarers who have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs onboard. Maybe a seafarer was too disruptive on a vessel. Perhaps a seafarer takes too long to respond to you:

How to edit or delete a NFR Reason
- To edit a reason click the pen and notepad icon. That will open the pop-up box and you can make your change.
- To delete a reason, click the trash can icon. That will remove the reason.
How to set a seafarer’s status to NFR
Go to the Seafarer page by clicking on Seafarers in the menu on the left hand side of the screen:

Note that the default view is to only show Active seafarers. To show other types of seafarer (Unavailable, NFR, Retired etc.) click the funnel icon at the top of the page:

You will then see this filter menu:

Scroll down the menu to Status:

Click the arrow next to Status and you will see this:

Select the status of the seafarer you want to change to NFR by choosing one of the other statuses in the Master status drop down menu.
To add a NFR reason to a seafarer, click on their name. This will take you to their profile page:

For example, we are on our fictional seafarer Alfonso Tromp’s profile page. You can see his Master Status is currently set to Active.
We want to change Alfonso's status to NFR as he was found to be intoxicated on his last vessel. To do that click in the Master Status box (highlighted above). You can now select NFR from the list:
Click NFR and the Master Status will change in the seafarer’s profile:

Underneath the Master Status you will see NFR Reason. Currently we haven’t selected a reason. You don’t have to, but if you want to choose one, click on the Reason box. That will open a drop down list with your reasons:

We have selected Under the Influence. It now appears in Alfonso's profile:

Because the default view on the main Seafarers page is to only show Active candidates, you will no longer see Alfonso on that page unless you use the Status Filter and select NFR.
What is the Master Status?
Master Status relates to the candidate or seafarer's relationship with you as an employer. Candidates can be Applicant or Rejected. Seafarers can be Active, Unavailable, Left, Retired or NFR. You can set the status using the drop down arrow in their profile, as seen above. We hope this helps you get the most out of the NFR Reason feature but please don’t hesitate to contact us at support@martide.com if you need any help at all.
