Document Assembly

In Martide, you will find a feature called Document Assembly. This lets you create a template, add your logo and format it in any way you want. You can then download the file to your computer. This is useful for any type of document you want to save as a template: CV’s, contracts, onboard reports etc.

Where to find Document Assembly

To get started, log in to your Martide account. Click on Settings in the menu under your profile picture and then on Assembly:

You will go to a page that looks like this:

Here you can:

  • Add a new document by clicking the Add Document Assembly button.
  • See the documents in your system. 
  • Edit or delete any documents you have created by clicking the pen icon and delete it by clicking the trash can icon.
  • Download any of your documents by clicking the download arrow icon.

How to add a new Document Assembly

Click the Add Document Assembly button at the top of the page (see image above.)

That will show you this pop-up box:

Here you can:

  • Enter the name of your document.
  • Upload or drag and drop the file from your computer that you want to use as a document. Note: Files must be Word documents.

For example:

Click Save. Your new document will now appear on the main Document Assembly page:

How to download a document

To download any of your documents, click the download arrow next to it. In our example we are going to download the Seafarer CV Template:

When you click the download icon, the document will appear at the bottom of your screen as a Word DOCX document. Click on it to open the document.

When you open the Seafarer CV Template you will see something like this:

You will see that the logo we have used in our example is the Google logo, but you will want to upload your company’s!

How to download a seafarer’s profile as a CV

You can download a seafarer’s profile as a CV in your preferred format with your logo on it. Here’s how to do that.

Go to the profile page of the seafarer whose CV you want to download and click on the 3 dots at the top of the page:

Click on Document Assembly in the drop down menu. You will see this pop-up box. Click the document you want to use:

The Word DOCX document will appear at the bottom of your screen like it did with the other document. Click on it and you will see that the information from the seafarer’s profile has been extracted into the document:

How to create a document

A couple of notes about documents:

  • Documents must be created in a Word document.
  • You can add as many document to the system as you like.

Here’s how to create a new document:

  • Open a new Word document.
  • Insert your logo.
  • Format the document - for example with boxes.
  • Insert tags - for example {{ seafarer_first_name }} or {{ contract_title }} or {{ vessel_name }} (See the image of the Default Seafarer CV above).

Let's say you want to create a document for your Onboard Reports. Format your document accordingly and add the tags to the document.

Then go to Vessels, click on a vessel’s name and click the On Board tab on the vessel’s profile:

Now, on the On Board page, click on the download icon at the bottom right of the page and then on Assembly in the drop down menu:

When you click Assembly, you will see the pop-up box that we saw before and you can select your document:

Select your document and the system will replace its tags with relevant information and the file will be downloaded to your computer for you to save or print.
